WHY SPONSOR STONEWALL BAR ASSOCIATION OF GEORGIA?
SBA was established in 1995 as a voluntary coalition of attorneys, judges, law students, paralegals, and other legal professionals. Our mission is to use our professional expertise to support the rights of LGBTQ+ people and to oppose discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. We publish an online directory of attorneys willing to serve and respond to the needs of LGBTQ+ clients, in addition to a newsletter distributed to 800 legal professionals.
Your support has enabled us to offer important and relevant educational programming to both lawyers and laypersons, complete the 7th year of our mentoring program, and award 3 scholarships to law students to attend the Lavender Law Conference and Career Fair sponsored by the National LGBT Bar Association. With your help, we have put on CLEs and social and networking events for attorneys, law students, and other legal professionals.
In 2020, the SBA Board voted to establish a the Stonewall Racial Justice Grant Program to award funds to organization(s) whose work amplifies SBA’s commitment to the LGBTQ community during this time of reckoning with racial justice. All sponsorships of SBA for the 2020-2021 year will go directly to this grant program that will benefit organizations serving the Black transgender and gender non-binary community. All sponsors have the opportunity to contribute to the decisions regarding which organizations will receive the funds. SBA believes that this program will have a profound effect on underserved populations in our community by providing actionable, relevant assistance during this pivotal time. The deadline for sponsorship pledges for the grant program is September 30, 2020.
With your help, we can continue our commitment to quality programming, education, and engaged action.
